SHOT-PEENING STRENGTHENED LAYER AND ITS EFFECT ON FATIGUE STRENGTH OF α-BRASS

Abstract: In shot peened α-brass surface layer{111} type planar defects and deformation microtwins have been observed by means of TEM analysis.The density of microtwins deereases with the increase of layer depth.The enhancement of fatigue strength and the unrelaxation of residual stress after shot peening are concerned in the substructures of strengthened layer.
