THERMALLY CYCLING AND MIXED GAS CARBONIZING

Abstract: This paper introduces a new approach to metal surface hardening. By utilizing thermally cycling and mixed agents to speed up diffusion of diffusing elements, the carbonizing rate is greatly enhanced and the structure of the strengthened case is more satisfactory, thus obtaining much longer services of machine parts. The mechanism of the new approach is discussed.
